Kefa Installation to Plenum
Winter 2008/09
Location: Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
Architects: Albert Kahn and Associates
General Contractor: M. A. Mortenson
Painting Contractor: Hess Sweitzer
Conditions: Newly constructed concrete plenum located in the basement area is subject to condensation when conditions are favorable. Albert Kahn and associates specified KEFA Airless anti-condensate to prevent the possible formation of condensation. By preventing condensation, mold, mildew and fungus will not have necessary moisture to form on the coated or adjacent surfaces. In addition to this property the KEFA material is non- static, therefore will not attract dust and other foreign matter to the surface. The KEFA material will not burn or generate smoke.
KEFA is water base, low VOC (.167 lbs/gal) material and will function indefinitely as long as the substrate is intact and the material is not over coated. By preventing condensation the odors and other negative problems associated with excessive moisture and condensation will not occur in any space appropriate for the use of the KEFA material.
The below picture shows the completed project. The KEFA material was applied an average of 30 DFT and the entire project took 250 gallons of material. Once installed the KEFA Anti-Condensate will prevent condensation indefinitely. The material can be touched up or over coated at any time with no recoat window.
